Solar power for a critical water infrastructure asset
The Balickera Pump Station Solar Farm is a 3.1MW ground-mounted solar array supporting one of NSW's critical water infrastructure assets. RECOR partnered with Downer to deliver the civil and structural design for the array, comprising approximately 5,500 photovoltaic panels arranged across the site.
Solar power generation at this scale on a water pumping station carries practical engineering demands that go beyond standard utility-scale solar work. The system needed to be designed for long-term reliability, low-maintenance operation, and compatibility with the host site's operational continuity requirements.
Civil and structural design for ground-mount solar at scale
RECOR's civil scope covered site preparation, access, and drainage for the array footprint. The structural design addressed the racking system, foundations, and load considerations for 5,500 panels across the site's specific geotechnical and wind-loading conditions.
Delivered in partnership with Downer as one of RECOR's renewable energy projects, the array contributes to the operational sustainability of the host pumping station while demonstrating practical large-scale solar engineering on a working utility site.
